One of Scotland's largest further education colleges, the institution attracts 20,000 students a year from more than 40 countries. Students can opt for courses including sport, social sciences, engineering and beauty therapy.

The new college includes a five-storey teaching block, a residential building for up to 50 students and workshop block for Engineering and Automotive students. The campus also features conference facilities, a public learning centre, performing arts space and a job shop. There is a nursery building that provides 300 places for pre-school children and after-school care.

The building has been designed to account for the needs of all students resulting in a facility that encourages access and integration - today’s students have diverse abilities and come from all walks of life, they hold new expectations for learning.

FES and FES Support Services carried out the Mechanical, Electrical, Prefabrication, Utilities, Data, Fire and Security services.

FES offered many advantages to this project – utilising prefabricated modules within the service corridors of the Teaching Block and Workshop Buildings, modularised plant rooms, skids and risers for this project. We were able to significantly reduce labour hours onsite providing benefits to programme including; speed of delivery, commissioning certainty and reducing our overall carbon footprint.

"The professionalism of the team is to be commended. Since the start of the project the inclusion that has been extended to ourselves has been impressive and has ensured that we have been playing an active hands-on role throughout the entire process."

Jacqui Doughty, Director, (Finance and Physical Resources) Motherwell College
