Property Services - HMNB Clyde, Faslane
FES worked closely with Babcock International to deliver this refurbishment project at the iconic Faslane Navel Base.
This refurbishment project on the HMNB Clyde Naval Base involved the strip out of asbestos, existing partitions, fixtures and fittings from the 1st floor of the Cochrane Building. Throughout the works, half of the first floor, along with the ground and second floors, remained fully operational. FES employed a specialist asbestos removal contractor for the asbestos strip out works. Following the asbestos strip, the new layout was formed creating several rooms accompanied by fire rated corridors and glazing.
The scope of works included the following items:
- Electrical alterations and installation
- Fire Alarm installation
- Data communication installation (both standard and MOD)
- Fire rated corridor and glazed screens
- Stud partitions
- Suspended ceilings
- Floor coverings
Our approach to delivering the works was with a focus on security, we ensured all our site staff were security vetted and that any disruptive tasks were undertaken out of hours. The works were completed using FES in-house staff, with only the flooring and ceiling works being subcontracted to client nominated contractors. Minimising our need for subcontracting allowed us to coordinate the works more efficiently such that the project was delivered on time and within budget.
