Secretary of State for Defence meets FES

During a recent visit to Stirling the Secretary of State for Defence, Gavin Williamson met with members of staff from FES to discuss their involvement in Ministry of Defence contracts throughout the UK.

Mr Williamson discussed the extensive works that FES has undertaken on key defence contracts involving high voltage infrastructure and specialist optical fibre cabling.

FES installed and continues to support the blown optical fibre network on the Royal Navy’s Type 45 Destroyers; a solution that was specifically designed to provide state-of-the-art systems from day one whilst allowing simple and rapid upgrades to ensure that the Type 45 can quickly deploy the most advanced future technologies.

Duncan S Fletcher CBE, Chairman for FES Group also discussed the company’s apprenticeship program that has trained over 1,200 apprentices in various trades such as electrical and mechanical services. FES currently has 177 x apprentices in training across the group.
