The Council and Scottish Water Horizons (SWH) have invested £1million and £3million in the project, respectively, with £2million coming from the Scottish Government’s Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme (LCITP) – funded jointly by the Scottish Government and the European Regional Development Fund. This brings the total investment in the scheme to £6million.

The district heating scheme involves the installation of 2.5km of underground district heating pipework and a fibre communication network along the Forthside Way. The project also includes the installation of heat substations to facilitate the district heating connection to existing properties.

The scheme is to be fully operational by the end of March 2019. Read more about it on Stirling Council’s website
